Our History
Mrs.
Agnes Mackey, a person uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit in children's
work, had been serving with Children's Bible Missions for over 30
years. During that time, she was the Theme Time speaker each year
at the CBM camp held at Indian Springs in Jackson, Georgia. After
her mandatory retirement at age 69, she felt she still had many good
years left in service to the Lord.
So,
in June 1971, Mrs. Mackey and Rev. Bill Carpenter formed a new mission
organization, Neighborhood Gospel Missions. In November of 1971, NGM
re-entered the public schools in Georgia, and continued another eight
years until it became legally impossible to continue that aspect of
ministry. Mrs. Mackey had another 20 years of active children's ministry
until her homegoing in 1991. |
